Germ-zapping robots boost safety during pandemic
Thanks in great part to generous donors, HonorHealth Foundation has purchase 32 germ-zapping robots used to disinfect more than 40 areas across our six hospitals—from intensive care, bone marrow transplant and medical/surgical units to operating rooms and procedure areas.
These mighty robots destroy germs in hospital environments that may survive the manual cleaning process. The robot represents state-of-the-art automated disinfection technology, the robots effectively destroy bacteria, viruses and bacterial spores—including COVID-19, the Eboli virus, the Candida auris fungus and other antibiotic-resistant “superbugs.”
This helps to safeguard patients from infections that can:
- impact their health and quality of life
- lengthen their hospital stay
- increase costs
- potentially be deadly
Donors ensure the robots become part of the HonorHealth family by giving them names, such as Frank the Tank and Clean-O-Patra.
