Desert Mission 2022 General Impact Report

Sue SadeckiThe past few years have brought trying times, both to our local community and to people around the world. With soaring inflation, gas prices and interest rates, many of our neighbors are shouldering a heavy burden right now.

No matter what challenges we face, we know that when we work together, anything is possible. At Desert Mission, we’re here, together, with members of our community who need a helping hand.

Desert Mission Food Bank - fresh fruit and vegisYour generosity in action

I’ve never needed to visit a food bank, but I’m here because I had an expensive car repair and other unexpected bills, and I can’t afford to buy food or pay my rent.
— Norma

A long-time food bank guest, Emelda, shared that she was here for a second food visit of the month due to financial concerns caused by health issues. With help from the Living Well program, Emelda received rent and utility assistance to enable her to stay in her home while she learned how to stabilize her finances and health.

Desert Mission Food BankThe need is all around us

With the increasing cost of living, people are being forced to choose between feeding their families and paying bills. Food banks have become a necessity for one in every six adults in the U.S. Demand is growing as pantries across the country are struggling with inflation, staffing shortages and dwindling donations.

Your gift makes an incredible difference for those in need and continues Desert Mission’s legacy of caring. Your gift helps us:

  • Provide nutritious food and fresh produce to hungry children, families and seniors in need.
  • Support children’s early learning, life skill development and school readiness, and give parents access to resources and the knowledge to support their child’s education and development.
  • Offer activities and enrichment for older adults and respite for their caregivers.
  • Put individuals on the path toward self-sufficiency by helping them navigate resources, connect to public and community benefits programs, and receive financial coaching.

At Lincoln Learning Center, the teacher’s compassion and love for our child is always evident and makes us feel extremely comfortable. The teachers offer great insight into my child’s development and are always supportive. Lincoln Learning Center is definitely setting the foundation for my child’s future.

The hardest part is I remember who she used to be and who she is now. But every day in Adult Day Healthcare, there are celebrations.
